The Resorts Atlantic City casino and hotel was the first of the casinos to open on the Atlantic City boardwalk back in the 1970's. At one time it was a piece of Merv Griffin's entertainment empire. The original hotel tower located on the oceanfront portion of the casino's property, refurbished a couple of times and now called the Ocean Tower, was an existing hotel prior to becoming a casino/hotel. The Ocean Tower has 480 rooms. The newer Resorts Rendezvous Tower is a 27 story expansion that opened in 2004. It's behind the Ocean Tower, a little further from the boardwalk. There are 388 luxury rooms and 58 high-end suites in the Rendezvous Tower. The standard Rendezvous rooms are the largest in Atlantic City.
There's just under 100,000 square feet of gambling space at the Resorts - over 26,000 square feet added with the building of the Rendezvous Tower. There are over 2,500 slot machines and 80 gaming tables on site. There's also a separate poker room that hosts poker tournaments several nights a week.
